Internet Radio Show Status

January 22, 2009
I bring great news! I am now able to broadcast the internet radio shows – starting this Saturday with “Soul Revival”. My PC issues have been resolved, although at a price (same result as before-files wiped out); as stated before I will persevere and move on. The process of moving on begins with the next internet radio show. Posted below is a reminder of what I have in store:
This month’s Spotlight mix will be a very special one. The subject of this mix is yet another House Music icon. This producer was responsible for some of the most influential and enduring House tracks, some of which became “anthems”. He was among the first to incorporate “real” instrumentation and songwriting, thus giving more credibility to the House Sound. [For the old school Househeads, his sound should be instantly recognizable] On a personal note, I must add that another reason for my excitement about presenting this mix is that he and I have the same alma mater: Lindblom Technical High School, in Chicago IL (this makes the second Spotlight Mix featuring a fellow alumni – Steve “Silk” Hurley being the first).
For this month’s Spotlight Mix I will be playing some of the deepest House jams produced by:
MARSHALL JEFFERSON.

Soul Revival - 1st Show for 2009

Foundation Mix – January 2009
In 1999 I had an idea. It was actually more of a dream: “If I were to have a club, how would I present my music and in turn, ‘brand’ my product?” As I put my ideas onto paper I wanted to be sure to cover three main areas: music styles, musical expression and target audience. The clincher: “…the people who understand the music are those who are elegant but have the willingness and readiness to sweat on the dance floor. They are considered to be a “mature” audience. These people are not afraid of the repetitive beats and rhythms, because they know that he beats and rhythms lead to something. They are not afraid of hearing something different from what is on the radio. They know how to party to soulful dance music. They are House People!” This concept/dream became “SOUL REVIVAL”.
In 2000 I recorded a promotional mix CD. This was a new adventure for me, and in order for me to capture the essence of my expression of House Music I gave the mix CD the appropriate title of “SOUL REVIAL”. During the next six years I recorded ten more volumes.
In 2006, only four months after recording Volume 11 of the “SOUL REVIVAL” mix CD series, I launched my internet radio show via Jerseydjs.com. At the risk of sounding clichés, “the rest is, as they say, history”. “SOUL REVIVAL” as an internet radio show began on Sep 9, 2006.
For the New Year I am presenting the SOUL REVIVAL “Foundation Mix”; with this mix I will be presenting the elements that I have always believed to be the true essence of House Music: (70s/Soul/Disco/Funk/Mainstream/Gospel/Vocals/Jazz/Blues/Percussion/Afro).

Updated Status of Internet Radio Shows
-
November 18, 2008
Friends,
The latest news:
Even though my computer access has been restored I am not yet connected to the Jerseydjs.com site in the way that will allow me to resume my internet radio shows. Once I get reconnected I will be back in effect. I will be sure to inform you once that happens. In the meantime you can still check out all of the other shows on Jerseydjs.com. The roster of DJs is a real treat for the ears!
On a somber note, I was finally able to determine that many of the lost files are irretrievable and are gone forever. Most people would be seriously heartbroken by such news, and for a moment I was one of those people. I then compared the occasion to that of having other possessions “taken” from me, such as when my house was broken into several times during my tenure in England. I also thought about the time when I mailed some records to my APO address from my Chicago address and half of them mysteriously disappeared when the mail was damaged. During these two times (and several others) I had to simply recover/renew what I could, forget about my permanent losses, and move on. Once again I am forced to repeat that pattern of behavior. I was only able to recover a handful of files, so now I must renew what I can. Next, I must cut my permanent losses. I have already done that so the final step is for me to move on with life. In short, the loss of files was a mere inconvenience to me since I do have to start things from scratch. However, with Thanksgiving right around the corner I can say that I still have more than most people – the list of blessings can get lengthy if I really let it!
One final note: just know that with the insights I just gave, the internet radio shows will be even better than before!
Internet Radio Shows on Hold - Update
-
November 6, 2008
Friends,
Here is the latest update on my computer drama:
I am now able to acces the computer again. I can get into Windows and check emails again. However, I still have a long way to go in terms of re-establishing my lost/damaged files. With my regular daytime duties keeping me busy my only option for getting this done will be on weeknights and weekends. I am hoping to be back up and ready to entertain you via the internet radio shows on the 18th of November with Pryme Vektor and on the 22nd of November with Soul Revival.
Wish me luck!

Friends,
It is with regret that I must announce that the "Pryme Vektor" and "Soul Revival" internet radio shows on Jerseydjs.com will be not be airing until further notice. My computer crashed and I lost ALL of my files.
I will send another notice once I get up and running again.
Spotlight Mix - October 2008
-
October 21, 2008
After a short respite from SOUL REVIVAL it’s time for another Spotlight Mix, this time at the end of the month. This time I will be showcasing a person whom I consider to be an unsung hero in the Chicago House Scene. As a young child growing up in Chicago I was exposed to House Music via radio stations WBMX, WGCI and WKKC. These stations always played the hottest jams. There are a large number of tracks that, when heard, will always generate the same reaction as when I first heard them. This person was responsible for quite a few of ‘em! The production style was usually recognizable because of these elements: heavy bass, thumping beats, and a warm, soulful sound.
It is now time to reveal this mysterious figure…

Spotlight Mix – September 2008
-
September 4, 2008
Once again it is time for another Spotlight Mix for the SOUL REVIVAL mixshow, and for September “school will be in session”. The subject of this spotlight mix is something of an icon in the Chicago House Music scene. He is an accomplished DJ, producer and remixer. He also has that talent that very few DJs possess – vocalist! In other words, he’s the total package. With that thought it should hopefully be easy to narrow down who the spotlight will shine on this Saturday; however, I shall end the suspense right now!
On September 6, 2008, 10PM – 12AM, EST, I will play some of my favorite tracks by the Minister of Sound: RON CARROLL.

Chicago Jacking Zone
-
August 25, 2008
I have just been inspired! This week’s SOUL REVIVAL offering will be yet another first for me as a DJ. This time around I will present Chicago classics from the “Jacking Zone” - that time in Chicago’s House Music history when ‘Jack’ was in the air and on the airwaves. I had presented Chicago classics in the past, in the form of mixed CDs but this time will be different. I will attempt to literally hot-mix the records, as was done back in the days of the Hot Mix Five, the Master Mix Six and Friday Night Audio (Chicago ‘heads should remember). With a two hour slot, there is no telling how many records I can fit in – I currently have up to 50 lined up and ready to blast. This should be a night no one will forget (especially me)!
On August 30, 2008, 10PM – 12AM, EST, I will JACK YOUR BODY!

Spotlight Mix - August 2008
-
August 10, 2008
I was away for a month in my hometown of Chicago, with the intention of enjoying some vacation time. I managed to do so and now that I am back to work (on the Soul Revival mixshow, that is) I must continue with the spotlight mixes. The offering for August is one that I would consider to be an encore since this person had already been on showcase in 2007. It is only fitting that the mix be done shortly after his birthday. A lot was said preparatory to the Spotlight Mix in 2007, so now all I will state is that he'll be another year older and no worse for wear musically.
August 16, 2008 is the date, 10 PM - 12 AM is the time,
www.radio.jerseydjs.com is the location, and The "Legendary" Terry Hunter will be the focus of Soul Revival.
Don't sleep on this!

Soul Revival Spotlight Mix – July 2008
-
June 28, 2008
The Spotlight Mix for July promises to be another amazing set. June’s mix featured music touched by a Grammy nominee – this time I will feature a Grammy winner. He (in the same fashion as June’s spotlighted artist – Steve “Silk” Hurley) has worked with some of the biggest names in R&B music: Zhane, CeCe Peniston, Brownstone. More recently he has been consistently linked to R&B group Destiny’s Child and Gospel group Mary Mary. With these artists on his discography it becomes more evident that he needs no introduction…
On July 5th, 2008, 10PM – 12AM EST, I will profile music that has been touched by none other than the Grammy winner: MAURICE JOSHUA.

Soul Revival Spotlight Mix - June 2008
-
May 31, 2008
The Spotlight Mix for June will be a continuation of House Music summer madness. This time I will shine the light on another living legend. Some of the tracks I will play will be instantly recognizable while others could be a surprise – in terms of this individual’s association with the tracks. This man is responsible for some of dance music’s most incredible offerings. I am personally proud to say that he and I are alumni of the same high school in Chicago: Lindblom Technical High School. This is significant (especially for the Chicago heads) because this was one of those schools where a large majority of the student body was a fan of House Music. To have this person be alumni is, simply stated, huge! He became the dance music “wrecking ball” in the early 1990’s, at the time when House Music began to gain national attention. The timing could not have been better since he gained prominence by remixing the hits for some of the biggest names in the game (Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, CeCe Peniston, and Prince, among others).
On June 7, 2008, 10PM – 12AM, the spotlight shines brightly on the four-time Grammy nominee: STEVE “SILK” HURLEY.

Soul Revival Spotlight Mix - May 2008
-
April 27, 2008
May is one of my favorite months of the year. There’s Mother’s day, the ushering in of springtime weather, and my birthday. The anticipation of my birthday begins on day one and continues right up to day twenty-seven. Three days into the month I will shine the spotlight on a staple in the music world. This team has been a major player in the Chicago scene and came to the forefront in the 1990’s. Their creative genius was evident in the House genre – but R&B benefited as well.
On May 3, 2008, 10PM – 12AM, the birthday anticipation explodes with my Spotlight Mix featuring CLUBHOUSE ENTERTAINMENT.

Pryme Vektor Mixshow - Interactive Tuesday
-
April 12, 2008
Friends,
This Tuesday, the 15th of April, will be a nice one. Although the PRYME VEKTOR mixshow is usually reserved for genres other than House I'm doing a special set. I will be entertaining requests for any of those old school classics that you may not have heard in a while (this is for those 80's/90s heads). If you're going to be in the chat room you can hit me with your requests, and if I have them I'll attempt to put them on. If you won't be in the chat room you can hit me with your requests now and I'll try to pull them over the weekend and play them on Tuesday. Either way, I have no plans for the show on Tuesday except to play the classics from the 80s and 90s and whatever you request.
I might do a hot mix - I might not! We'll play this by ear!
One other note: since this is an old school theme I will be using the vinyl...
(I am the #1 vinyl junkie)

Soul Revival Spotlight Mix – April 2008
-
April 2, 2008
Once again it is my pleasure to give a foretaste of the upcoming Spotlight Mix for the Soul Revival mixshow. This DJ hails from the North Side of Chicago, where the House scene rivals that of the South Side. His sets are always tight and his sound is unique. When he is behind the decks you’re sure to have a rockin’ house! On April 5, 2008, 10PM – 12AM, I will be saluting one of Chicago’s finest: LEGO.

Very, Very Special Pryme Vektor Mixshow
-
February 16, 2008
The next Pryme Vektor mixshow will be a very, very special show. It will be the first in a series of specials celebrating an icon in music. It is only appropriate for me to highlight this musical icon during Black History Month. Everyone knows that in order for a door to be “burst” open sacrifices have to be made by others. The subject of my specials is a result of those sacrifices and, as a benefactor, was able to become a musical force to be reckoned with. Next Tuesday night get ready to take notes, as I start at the beginning and present the first Black-owned “major” record label: MOTOWN.
