Saturday’s Soul Revival mixshow will be a very special treat. I will be spotlighting a Deep House icon, and personal House Music hero. This DJ/producer/remixer has been on the scene since the late 1980’s. Ever since his first record was released (in 1990) his name has been one to be noticed. In my opinion 1994 was one of his best years production-wise, for there are a number of projects from that year that I consider as “timeless”. Through the 1990’s and even into the 2000’s his sound has always maintained a soulful base, running the spectrum from deep house to afro-centic. His sets have been legendary – the crowd was always taken on a musical journey! It is only fitting for me to begin Black History Month with a living legend such as this world-renowned Chicago-based DJ. For the Spotlight Mix I will be playing my favorite records that have been produced/remixed (given the “Midas Touch”) by this individual – don’t sleep!

I have just secured a new internet radio show. This show will feature music from a wide range of genres and time periods. I will also be hosting the show as my alter ego, Optymus Pryme. Furthermore, it will be a “themed” show (for the debut show I will be playing Break-dance classics; for the next show I will feature New Jack Swing). Next Saturday will be the first Soul Revival mixshow for 2008. I felt that 2007 was an amazing year for House Music, and 2008 looks just as promising. With that being said it is once again time to shine the spotlight on a House Music entity. The subject of this Spotlight Mix is a name synonymous with the word “legend”. This person’s name is known worldwide and for good reason. His DJ sets are often talked about, and his remixes are simply astounding. He is credited as one of the pioneers of the Chicago House Scene of the 1980s.

This Saturday will be the last Soul Revival mixshow for 2007. Those of you who are dance music lovers would agree that 2007 has been phenomenal in terms of House Music. I had high hopes at the start of the year and my expectations have been met and then EXCEEDED. The upcoming show will be a mix of the tunes that “did the job” for me through the course of the year. While it will be sad for me to see 2007 come to a close the good news is that there are still some 2007 records that have yet to be released (only 7 days left, plenty of time), and once they are released they can carry over into the New Year! This Saturday (Dec 22nd)will be a special session to honor a special individual. It’s been nearly one year now since the passing of JAMES BROWN. Tune in this Saturday as I lay down some serious tracks from the Godfather of Soul, Mr. Dynamite, The Hardest Working Man In Show Business, Soul Brother #1, and musical icon!

This Saturday will be the THIRD CONSECUTIVE Spotlight Mix (yep, once again I’m doing the unthinkable). This time around you, the listening audience, will have an opportunity to go back in time and take a trip with me down memory lane.

(House) Musically speaking seven has been an excellent number:
1977 – At the Warehouse in Chicago obscure disco was being played by DJ Frankie Knuckles. Of course no one knew what would happen years later…
1987 – House Music (by-product of Disco) took over Chicago and soon began to spill out of the US.
1997 – I was fortunate enough to be in the center of the House Music scene during my years in England. London was a hotbed of House Music, and some of the biggest and best DJs in the world were there and playing the hottest tracks of the day.

Saturday will be the second consecutive Spotlight Mix (another feat I have never done). This time I will play tracks produced/remixed by another personal favorite in the House Scene. This person has always been on the cutting edge. His productions have always been very soulful and brought“NYC warmth” to the House Sound. This session promises to be another very special one that you won’t want to miss!

On Saturday the 10th of November from 10 PM – Midnight EST, the spotlight will shine on TOMMY MUSTO.

Next Saturday I will do something I hadn’t done since 1999. I will lay down my records in a spontaneous hot mix (unrehearsed). My usual procedure is to prepare for each show by selecting the records that I may want to present, then on the night of the show I play them until my time expires. This time I will select my records on the night of the show. This will add to the “club feel” for the night, especially since I do my best work “on the fly”. I can guarantee that you will clap your hands, stomp your feet, yell and scream, and do everything else that you do to soulful house music.

This Saturday will feature a very special Spotlight Mix. I’ve been laying together the tracks to present this mix for some time now, and finally the moment is near. This extended mix will showcase tracks remixed, performed, or produced by my favorite DJ in the WORLD. This man has been all over the world and back (and is likely to be somewhere traveling at this very moment). He was recently crowned as a Chosen Few DJ in his (and my) hometown of Chicago.

It is my pleasure to announce my return on the Soul Revival mixshow. Saturday, July 21st, from 10 PM - Midnight EST, I will be back on after an 8-week hiatus. Get ready for two hours of non-stop House "fire" - I've come back from a short vacation in my hometown of Chicago, and I've gotten my House energy back!

The Soul Revival mixshow will not air for the next 8 weeks. This is due to professional obligations, and also a short vacation in Chicago. The next show will air on July 21st.

Unfortunately the Soul Revival mixshow will not air as planned due to technical difficulties. The show, featuring the "Special" Spotlight Mix, is now scheduled for May 5th.

One of my favorite DJs - Mark Grant - will be making an appearance in Salt Lake City on April 27th. Of course I will be checking him out. In honor of this world-renowned House Music ambassador, I will be spinning a "special" Spotlight Mix this Saturday, April 28th. Make sure to tune in, as this mix will be different in that I will play "on the fly" (I will play straight from the crates).

Mark your calendars for April 14th! This date will be the next Spotlight Mix for Soul Revival, and it will be a pleasure to present it to you. The featured “artist" is a producer, remixer, and he’s the one DJ who I always refer to as “the most ‘American’ British DJ I know of”. I saw him spin records plenty of times and I always admired the way he carried a night. Some of my fondest memories of living in the UK involve being near this man.

I have just completed a demo CD entitled "Deep Soulful House Mix". A the title imples, it is a mixture of Deep House as well as Soulful House. This mix was intended to be given to event promoters/club owners, but I am also game for sending it to fellow deep/soulful house DJs. If you like the smooth stuff then this CD is for you. The featured artists have been a staple in the House scene for over a decade and will go down as those who diligently carried the torch for Soulful House. This time the spotlight shines on the BASEMENT BOYS. You won't want to miss this!

I want to basically pay homage to the many songs that laid the foundation (bricks) for the music called "House". Let's just say that I decided to diiiiiiiiiiiiig deep into my crates to prepare. This will be a show that you won't want to miss!

Well the moment of truth is finally near. "Soul Revival" as an internet mixshow will soon become reality. Before I go further I must apologize for the short notice, but I was extremely busy with my day job and had little to no time to send out a notice.
